Liberty Bell’s crack runs right through the word “Liberty”

Here’s something rather ironic and ominous, did you know that the hairline crack in the Liberty Bell directly intersects the letter T in the word “Liberty”

Proclaim Libe-r-t-y- thro’ all the Land to all the Inhabitants thereof – Levit. XXV”

Original Liberty Bell was ordered from London in 1751 and arrived in Philadelphia in 1752 but immediately cracked. Locals recast it in 1753 but did a botched job and had to do it again that same year. Cheap metals like pewter and lead were added. The city ordered a brand new bell from London but were unable to return the defective bell so they kept it and a few years later it cracked again. Wikipeadia says,

“It is uncertain how the bell came to be cracked; the damage occurred sometime between 1817 and 1846”.

Apparently the crack became so bad after ringing it to celebrate Washington’s birthday in 1846 that they decided the bell could never be rung again – starting since the 70th anniversary of 1776 it has hung in silence. But it was paraded around the country as an attraction for 50 years, all the while cracking further and losing large chunks of its rim to memento seekers.

In 1948 Philadelphia transferred custody of Independence Hall and the Liberty bell inside to the Federal government.

Allegedly communists planned to blow up the Bell in the 1960’s, and some guy in the 1970’s attacked it with an auto tailpipe, and then in April 2001 some other guy hit it repeatedly with a hammer while shouting some sort of religious message, and there have been other incidents.

” While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.” 2 Peter 2:19-22

” For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.” Romans 16:18
