“And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.” Genesis 11:3-4
“¶ Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!” Isaiah 5:8
“Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.” Proverbs 24:27
“13 ¶ Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour’s service without wages, and giveth him not for his work; 14 That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.” Jeremiah 22:13-14
“9 Then shall his brother’s wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto that man that will not build up his brother’s house.” Deuteronomy 25:9
“12 ¶ Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and stablisheth a city by iniquity! 13 Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?” Habakkuk 2:12-13
“8 ¶ When thou buildest a new house, then thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof, that thou bring not blood upon thine house, if any man fall from thence.” Deuteronomy 22:8
“7 That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:” Amos 2:7
“4 The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.” Nahum 2:4
Much dissatisfaction, yet what is the root problem? It’s true that modern cities are ugly, defective, and artificial – people really want to live in racially homogeneous, intimate-sized, and organically grown neighbourhoods. Urban areas are ruined by negros and hispanics more than cars and skyscrappers.
A city must be dedicated to the GLORY OF GOD first are foremost.
No, race-mixing and “mixed use” zoning is not going to solve the problems. When God is put first then everything else will fall into place.
The modern world has evicted God from the public square – so it is little wonder our towns are filled with confusion, disfunction, and misery.
