Pinky ring, priest garb, tinted glasses, neck wattle, shaggy pencil moustache, and obscene gesture: TBN’s Paul Crouch is one creepy dude.
Paul Crouch was seen walking around a Costa Mesa movie theatre a few months ago leaning on some schoolboys for support; it seems he has become too obese to walk. The Television audience would never notice it – Crouch packs his hefty belt of lard around his waist while his face and shoulders remain thin.
“…. maketh collops of fat on his flanks.” Job 15:27.
These clerical collars not only look stupid, the have the sinister resemblance to Roman Catholic garb. Protestant religious hypocrites apparently are jealous that their papist cohorts have a special uniform.
“But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,” Matthew 23:5.
Or is Paul Crouch now dressing this way to admit he has been a Jesuit priest the whole time?
Isn’t the apostasy in full swing!
“Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;” 2 Thessalonians 2:3.
It is truly a shame that TBN became such a nut house of religious quackery. It was never completely sound (they gave the Roman Catholic priest Manning a show from the start), but many good preachers at least had some airtime.
But at a certain point men like Dave Hunt began to sound the alarm about the wacky doctrinal “name it and claim it” teachings of popular charismatics like Benny Hinn and Kenneth Copland. In that dispute, and others, Paul Crouch sided with the nuts and vehemently attacked “heresy hunters.” Once that showdown was over, everyone with discernment either left TBN or was kick off. What remained were money-grubbing Charismatic idiots. It has only gotten worse over time – even Jack Van Impe and Hal Lindsey felt compelled to leave (although Lindsey returned later).
What is a shame is that reaching great numbers of people through the gospel by mass communication has become prohibitively expensive and difficult.
With the vast proliferation of voices on the internet, there are simply too many sites per person – thus everything good, small, and independent is hidden within a huge sea noisy blather and distractions on all the other sites. It is too much for individuals to wade through and process – and therefore only a very few big sites dominate viewership on the web by pre-aggregating select articles off the web within their topic of specialization.
But with television and cable it is different – there are typically much fewer channels available. The choices are so reduced that one is compelled to watch whatever is on. In such a venue there is a chance of catching many viewers who otherwise would never attend a religious service. It is potentially a very good means for evangelism. But TBN decided to go the route of endlessly soliciting money and preaching doctrines of “financial blessing” and other worldly carnal avaricious garbage of that sort.
Reading the news it would apparently seem that all the religious big-shots left in professing Christianity are sodomites, lesbians, infidels, knaves and thieves.
Of course, that isn’t true. But that is where the push of Satanic “progress” is heading – and the perverts and freaks get all the attention and good press clippings. The average church-going Christian is unenthusiastic about his church institution slowly transforming into a lifeless dog-kennel of apostasy.
“And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.” Ezekiel 21:6.
Evil people used to be kicked out of local churches and shunned by the community of believers. That custom fell into disfavour – it not only invited scorn from the world – it also reduced the number of members, and therefore, the weekly collection. Once the wicked were no longer driven off they began to destroy the churches from within. The reprobates who infiltrate churches aren’t bothered by their religious hypocrisy – but they drive off righteous people compelled by conscience to flee churches that are defiled by the pollution of wicked people in their midst.
But the true church have never been the church organizations.
Saved people enjoy sweet personal fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ – and today they once again must do so far removed from the religious circus of institutionalized religion.
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20.
