The headline reads: “Fox News Apologizes for ‘Jews Killed Jesus’ Poll.” The stories claim that the since 1965 the Vatican no longer thinks Jews killed Jesus Christ and claims that the clown Ratzinger the 13th agrees in his upcoming book.
Notice the abject stupidity and prejudice of the Associated Press – they automatically presume that the question of whether or not the Jews killed Jesus Christ is a matter for Satan’s antichurch at the Vatican to decide. Could anything be more ridiculous?
Perhaps the only thing more ridiculous than thinking “pope” Ratzinger could declare the Jews exonerated of the blood of Christ, would be accepting ex-Anglican now Roman Catholic traditionalist “bishop” Richard Williamson‘s announcement that the Jews are guilty of “deicide” – a made-up word that the Bible never uses – implying that Christ’s death as a man was the death of God, and therefore man killed God. (Catholics play similar word-games to blasphemously call Mary the “mother of God”).
Ignoring all that superstitious blather, the Bible believer can determine and declare the absolute truth on the matter from the real Final Authority – the Authorized Version of 1611. In that Book we read the following:
The Jews plotted to Kill Jesus Christ:
“After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.”John 7:1.
“I and my Father are one. Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.” John 10:29-33.
Christ said the Jews would be to blame for killing him:
“31 Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets. 32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. 33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? 34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: 35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. 36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. 37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!” Matthew 23:31-37.
Those Jews that knew better consented by their silence:
“Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.” John 12:42-43.
Not just leaders, but “all the people” demanded Christ’s death at the price of their own guilt:
“And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified. When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.” Matthew 27:33
“And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar’s friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar. … And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar. Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.” John 19:16.
When Peter testified to them of their guilt they plotted to kill him also:
”27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them, 28 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us. 29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. 30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. 31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. 32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. 33 When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.” Acts 5:27-30.
Peter testified to the gentiles of the Jews’ guilt in killing Christ:
“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;” Acts 10:38-40.
Paul wrote of Pilate’s ignorance in killing Christ:
“Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” 1 Corinthians 2:6-8.
Paul wrote to the Thessalonians of the Jews’ guilt and impudence:
“For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews: Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.” 1 Thessalonians 2:14-17.
Apostate Jews are likened to Esau:
“Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.” Romans 9:6-7.
Apostate Jews are rejected by Christ:
“I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.” Revelation 2:9.
“Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.” Revelation 3:9.
There is no getting around these scriptures. They are crystal clear. The Jews as a nation killed Christ and they nationally continue to suffer under God’s wrath for having done so. Yet some Jews have repented and gotten saved – but they do not represent the whole of the Jewish nation which remains in infidelity and apostasy to this time.
According to the scriptures the Jews plotted to kill Jesus and are responsible for his death. They forced Pilate – in ignorance – to kill Jesus Christ according to their evil whim. Pilate washed his hands with running water of any responsibility; the Jewish high priests pledged fealty to Caesar and all the people accepted the stain of guilt for the blood of the Jesus Christ.
But notice the great, great love of our matchless saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
“Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.” Luke 23:34.
There remains therefore forgiveness – when will the Jews finally accept it? Obviously there is a pressing need for the Jewish leadership to absolve itself of the blood guilt of the death of Jesus Christ.
Washing Ceremony.
Pilate was compelled by his own conscience to wash his hands before delivering up Jesus Christ, for it says of the Gentiles: “Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness” Romans 2:15.
As the local Roman governor his ceremonial washing of his hands “coincidently” matched Moses’ demanded procedure for expiation of group responsibility under the Mosaic Law for the deaths of innocent persons.
“1 If one be found slain in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field, and it be not known who hath slain him: 2 Then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth, and they shall measure unto the cities which are round about him that is slain: 3 And it shall be, that the city which is next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take an heifer, which hath not been wrought with, and which hath not drawn in the yoke; 4 And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall strike off the heifer’s neck there in the valley: 5 And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried: 6 And all the elders of that city, that are next unto the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer that is beheaded in the valley: 7 And they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it. 8 Be merciful, O LORD, unto thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocent blood unto thy people of Israel’s charge. And the blood shall be forgiven them. 9 So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.” Deuteronomy 21:1-9.
Although the Jews have been ones to demand that nations apologize to them for “collective guilt” – they themselves have never repented of killing Jesus Christ, the Lord of Glory, the Saviour of the World.
The Jews have only chaffed and become irate at anyone even suggesting they accept responsibility for it. They have collective guilt and they remain in their sins under the wrath of God for slaying the Prince of Life who had done no wrong.
The Jewish nation needs to wash its hands with water pursuant to Deuteronomy 21 – and accepting the forgiveness that Jesus Christ pleaded on their behalf even while he was dying at their hands. Though they killed him, yet he loved them.
Because the Jewish state has never performed the Deuteronomy 21 hand-washing ceremony, they remain responsible for the sin of killing the Lord Jesus Christ.
Their on-going failure in this regard puts an interesting perspective on the many resentments they harbour toward other nations.
“Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry?” Jonah 4:4.
May God bless the Jewish people with good hearts who open their eyes and repent and trust Christ.
And regarding those that don’t, let us not hector them – let us simply leave them alone – as Jesus Christ admonished:
“Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” Matthew 15:14.
