Bible believing vs. “Scholar” believing

Posted on December 11

The Bible-believer is not hobbled in his pursuit of truth by hitching his understanding to the blind meanderings of the bumpkins in the “scientific community.” After all, we have been warned about “science falsely so called” in 1 Timothy 6:20 – knowing that the Bible is true (“thy word is truth.” John 17:17) no matter what any “scholar” has to say.

To understand what we read when we open the King James Bible we need only understand English. We do not need to know any Greek or Hebrew or have access to any original manuscripts. After all, there are no original manuscripts! God permitted them all to decay to dust. Any “scholar” who expounds upon the scripture by announcing what he claims is in the “original manuscript” is a liar and a con-man. A scholar’s dogmatic assertion about what the original manuscript says is about as relevant as Mickey Mouse’s testimony about what he heard from the Wizzard of Id.

Although the “originals” are dust, God preserved his word and has translated it by the Holy Spirit working in the body of Christ into English. “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.” Psalm 12:6-7. “If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.” 1 Corinthians 14:27.”By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.” Hebrews 11:5.

We can state with the assurance of faith (“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6), we can confidently state that we have God’s infallible words in the divine text of the King James Bible of 1611 and that is where the Bible believer goes to get understanding and light.

The Bible say, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105, and “in thy light shall we see light.” Psalm 36:9, and again, “Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.” John 8:43. Therefore the Bible method for understanding the Bible is to read it and believe it.

Jesus Christ said, “the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63, therefore it is impossible for the natural man to understand the Bible for it says, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2:14. But the Bible believer does understand the Bible because he believes it and he looks to the scriptures to give light upon the scriptures, for it says: “not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” 1 Corinthians 2:13.
